NAOSMM Safety - LSI ProjectThe NAOSMM Safety Committee is excited to announce the launch of a new joint project with The Laboratory Safety Institute. Some of you might remember Dr. James Kaufman's seminar presentation at the annual conference in July 2010. Dr. Kaufman asked the 70 attendees to list, in two minutes, the kinds of emergency situations that they could imagine might happen in their labs. He collected them, compiled them, and sent them our way. NAOSMM members are now invited and encouraged to share their expertise and submit procedures that their institutions use to deal with the various emergency situations. The member responses will help create a first draft of model procedures for dealing with select foreseeable emergency situations. From there, LSI will create a document/literature for distribution, and some of the results will also be made available on this page. The following is an alphabetical list of emergency situations. When you click on a situation, an automatic email response will be generated with the situation in the title and the following in the body of the email: Do you have emergency procedures or plans in place for specific situations with specific steps? Describe what you would do or what your institution does in this emergency situation. Please feel free to be as detailed as possible. Complete the email, then send. You may give responses to as many of these emergency situations as you'd like.
