Presented by: Russ Phifer, WC Environmental, LLC

Each new generation of lab personnel needs to learn the basics of managing laboratory wastes. Academic and Industrial R&D facilities are all subject to RCRA and state regulations that require cradle-to-grave liability for waste generators. This workshop is completely up to date on the regulatory structure and common on-site management methods, including the Generator Improvement Rule which mandates waste determinations at the point of generation. Learn about how to make waste determinations, accumulate wastes effectively on site, manage the required recordkeeping and prepare a waste manifest. We will address disposal technologies, vendor selection, and how to reduce costs by waste consolidation on site and in municipal systems while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Cost: $150.00 + ($11.90 nonrefundable Eventbrite registration fee)

Once we arrive at Mardi Gras World, you are free to explore the gift shop, the outside area along the Mississippi River or take the self guided tour. Tours begin every 30 minutes and last approximately one hour. The tour begins with a short informational video about Mardi Gras and a piece of king cake. This tour allows you to see firsthand what it takes to bring Mardi Gras to life year after year. Walk through the hard work and extensive planning that goes into this grand event when you tour Blaine Kern Studios, an operating workshop that has created breathtaking floats for Mardi Gras and other parades around the world since 1947. This all-access opportunity winds you through the massive studio, where artists and architects build Mardi Gras floats from the ground up. The whole family will love touring the space where our artisans create show-stopping floats for more than 40 parades each year. This New Orleans tour is an experience you’ll want to document. There are hundreds of photo opportunities in front of floats and props.

Return to the hotel is at your leisure by way of the Mardi Gras World shuttle. The shuttle runs every 20 minutes and drops off at various places along Canal Street.
