Keynote:  

GETTING THE CHEMISTRY RIGHT!
Dr. Joe Schwarcz

Dr. Joe Schwarcz is Director of McGill University’s “Office for Science and Society” which has the mission of separating sense from nonsense. He teaches both in the faculty of Science and the Faculty of Medicine and is the recipient of numerous awards for teaching chemistry and for interpreting science for the public. He was the first non-American to win the American Chemical Society’s prestigious Grady-Stack award for popularizing chemistry. “Dr Joe” has hosted a radio show on science for forty-five years, has appeared hundreds of times on television, writes a regular newspaper column and is the author of twenty best-sellers. He has been awarded four honorary doctorates,as well as the Order of Canada and teaches a course on “Food and Nutrition” that with 2700 students holds the record for the largest enrolment for any university course in Canada. Professor Schwarcz is also an amateur magician, often spicing up his presentations with a little magic.

Delivered in an interactive workshop format, the session will provide coverage of Chapter 7 (Ventilation), Chapter 8 (Operational Requirements), and an introduction to Chapter 9 (MAQs), including breakout exercies on lab classification, limiting hazards, and inventory-based MAQ concepts.

Registration Costs

Registration entitles individuals to attend all learning sessions, receptions, breaks, and vendor-sponsored events. All meals provided are included in the registration price for Regular & Associate Members. Lifetime Members, Non-Members, and Companions (registered or unregistered) wishing to attend the Awards & Recognition Banquet must purchase additional tickets.

*Individuals who neglect to book their room under the NAOSMM room block at the hotel prior to the room block closing/deadline will be reinvoiced for the $275 difference.

**Companions are family/friends of registered NAOSMM member that are not eligible for Regular or Associate NAOSMM membership. Children under the age of 12 are encouraged to attend meals, receptions, breaks and vendor-sponsored events but shall be asked to not attend learning session or the trade show.

Registration Payment Deadlines

  • Early Bird – On or before May 31, 2026
  • Regular – On or before June 30, 2026
  • Should you need to defer your payment until after June 30, 2026, to allow for a new budget cycle:
    • Please select “invoice” when registering.
    • Please mark the expected payment date in the comments section on your registration.
  • All payments must be received by Thursday, July 9, 2026.
  • Late Fee – Registrants that have not paid by Thursday, July 9, 2026, will incur a $50 fee.

Awards & Recognition Banquet

IMPORTANT: If you are NOT a Regular or Associate member, you will need to purchase a banquet ticket if you wish to dine with everyone!!! This includes companions. Ensure you have done so before completing your registration. All meal options at $72.00

For this year's Awards & Recognition Banquet, you will have the following options:

Chicken: Mediterranean Chicken with Blistered Tomato & Basil Gremolata (GF)

Beef: Beef Chateaubriand with Red Wine Reduction (GF, DF)

Vegetarian: Grilled Lions Mane, Compressed Sweet Potato Pave, Grilled Asparagus and Roasted Vegetable Demi

Served with each meal will be:

Sunday Tour: Old Cowtown Museum

Synopsis: Take the opportunity to experience “an open-air living history museum dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of Wichita, Kansas through immersive experiences of life in the late 1800s.” During the trip, you will be able to wander around historical buildings, witness firearms and blacksmith demonstrations, and interact with “unique programming [that] tells the story of the city of Wichita’s evolution, from a frontier settlement to a cattle town to an agricultural and manufacturing area.”

Cost: $20.00, covering transportation, admission, and gratuity. Lunch is on your own while there (or eat before you leave).

Transportation: Contracted Shuttle Bus

  • Departure times from hotel: 12:00PM & 12:30PM
  • Return times to the hotel:  4:00PM, 4:30PM, 5:00PM

Emergency/Special Needs: NAOSMM will have a 7-passanger van available should someone need sudden assistance while at Cowtown. 

 

Friday Tour: Strataca Kansas Underground Salt Museum

Join some of your fellow NAOSMM members exploring one of the largest rock salt deposits int the world. Promising to be a comfortable 68°F, your ticket (Salt Blast Pass) will allow you to explore the Underground Museum Galleries that are as big as 3-4 city block and take both a 30-minute Dark Ride and a 15-minute Train Ride. Feeling like you want more than that? You can purchase combination ticket that include a guided 1-hour Salt Safari Shuttle, venturing further into the raw mine!

Cost: All pricing includes the ticket plus transportation, utilizing rented 15-passanger vehicles.

Tour Limits: Due to the size of the Safari vehicle inside the mine, a maximum of 15 individuals will be able to register for the Regular + Safari. Total size for the entire Friday tour is 37.
